Marvellous Minibeasts!
Kahlo Reception Class have been busy investigating creepy crawlies!
In English, we have enjoyed sharing and re-telling the story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle and 'Winnie the Pooh Helps the Bees', which gave us lots of interesting facts about bees! We persisted with using using our phonics to write bee facts as well as the story of The Hungry Caterpillar.
In Understanding the World, we have been looking at life cycles and identifying different types of minibeasts. We have enjoyed observing and comparing different minibeasts in our outside area, as well as learning new linked vocabulary.
In Expressive Arts and Design, we have been using a range of media, materials and techniques to make a range of our very own minibeasts. We have been exploring symmetry and thought of ways to create symmetrical butterfly pictures!
Reception have really lived up to our Early Years vision statement:
Be an Explorer. Be a Trier. Be a Talker. Be a Creator.
