Marvellous Minibeasts in McMillan Class
Our topic work on Ground, Air and Water has focused on minibeasts this week, in particular spiders and their amazing webs.
After learning lots about caterpillars and butterflies from the Eric Carle book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', we have moved on to another Eric Carle book, 'The Very Busy Spider'. The children have been fascinated to learn how spiders spin their webs and the ingenious way in which they are used to catch food!
We created our own web artwork, being very mathematical and measuring the straws and wool needed for the weaving.
Our mathematical skills were also needed for our minibeast printing patterns where we used two colours to create a repeating pattern.
Take a look at our lovely artwork!
