In keeping with exploring our unit of sound, Year 4 was able to explore all things sound and science at the Science Museum in Central London.

Be academic. Be curious. Be practical.

Our trip to the Science Museum consisted of everyone being able to be curious and explore all the floors of the Museum. We split up into three groups to complete our science-related worksheet on what we could find and had an explore.

We started on the ground floor and worked our way up. On the ground floor, we had a self-guided tour of the 'Making the modern world' room. This room was filled with all the iconic items that have shaped our society in the last 250 years of science and technology. We then went next door to the 'exploring space' room. This gallery room showcased some out-of-this-world objects from rockets to satellites. 

The first floor was the heart of medicine and engineering. Over here, there were many objects and machines on display which have changed over time. These were all in collaboration with clinicians and engineers who have built and used machines for people.

Finally, on the second floor, we were able to see all things maths and time. The children found it really interesting to see how clocks have changed and all the different designs of clocks there were. They also found it is fascinating to look at the fundamental role mathematicians, through their tools and ideas, played in building the world we live in.
