Symbolism in Buddhism

Best Class have delved into the world of Buddhism in RE this half-term.

Best Class has started Year 6 Religious Education with the topic 'What does it mean to be a Buddhist?'

In this topic we will explore a range of lessons on the different symbols, the eight-fold path, looking at Nirvana and Sangha, through to what Buddhists believe happens to a person when they die.

So far, we have looked at symbols in Buddhism and what they mean. We then thought about our own personal beliefs and drew our own symbols and explained why we would have them.

We then looked at the Eight-Fold Path. We explored the meaning behind the different paths and how achieving these can lead to enlightenment. We created our own eight-fold path based around our main beliefs of being the best that you can be.

We did this all through the RE Vision:

Be curious.

Be informed.

Be reflective.
