Happy Birthday to you!
As part of our topic 'Ourselves', Nursery have been thinking about growing up and growing older - this has obviously led to us talking about that most exciting of events - Birthdays!
Although every day can't be a Birthday, we can at least pretend - and that is just what Macmillan class have been doing!
We have talked about what makes a good birthday, and food, and birthday cake, were high on the list! But so was having friends and family to play with. The children loved our topic book 'Titch and Daisy' about two friends feeling rather shy at a Birthday Party.
We also made a special Birthday Chart so we know when everybody's birthday is - and who is three years old and who is four.
Also, our work on the seasons continues, and an Autumn tree has been created, using printing and collage techniques. We had great fun exploring the outside area to find the natural materials we needed to make our tree.
Take a look at the photos to see how Macmillan nursery class have lived up to our Curriculum Vision Statement for the Early Years:
Be an Explorer. Be a Trier. Be a Talker. Be a Creator.
Sharing food with friends at our party - we made sure to have plenty of healthy fruit and vegetables on the menu!
Our two Birthday Charts - 'I am three ' and 'I am four'
We loved this book! It taught us that parties are great, but kind friends are even greater!
Looking for Autumn leaves - an empty basket.
Full up now!
And plenty of twigs too!
We also counted autumn leaves into our number pots.
And developed our fine motor control picking up Autumn 'treasure' with our tweezers.
Now the process of creating our tree is underway.
