"Strum Your Way to Fun: Ukulele Lessons for All!"

This half-term, Year 3 and Year 4 have begun their musical journey with Ukulele. They are being taught by an amazing musician who has years of experience.

Welcome to our exciting Ukulele News! This half-term, our talented Year 3 and Year 4 musicians have started their journey into the world of music with the ukulele, and they are already making fantastic progress. Their learning beautifully reflects our Music Curriculum Vision Statement:

Be inspired. Be creative. Be dynamic.

What We've Learnt So Far:

The First Sound: The G Chord
Our budding musicians have been introduced to their first essential sound: the G chord! This fundamental chord is the building block for so many songs, and pupils have been practising placing their fingers correctly on the strings to create that beautiful, harmonious sound. Don’t forget to practice at home—every little strum counts!

How to Hold the Ukulele
Before making any music, it’s important to master how to hold the ukulele properly. This week, we focused on posture, ensuring the ukulele rests comfortably against the body with the neck held at the correct angle. The children have been doing an amazing job of getting this right, setting the foundation for confident and relaxed playing as they progress.

What’s Coming Next:

In the weeks ahead, we’ll combine the G chord with simple strumming patterns and start playing some easy, catchy tunes. This is where the real fun begins as pupils build their confidence and begin making music together.

We are so proud of how enthusiastically the children have embraced their ukulele journey, and we can’t wait to hear their music flourish as they “Be inspired, be creative, and be dynamic!” Keep strumming, everyone! 🎵
