Victorious Reds!

Year 5/6 Girls House Football Competition at St Dunstan's Jubilee Ground.
Excitement and energy filled the air as Year 5 and 6 girls took to the pitch for the much-anticipated annual house football tournament on Thursday, 6th February at St Dunstan's Jubilee Grounds. The competition saw all five houses battle it out in a thrilling round-robin format, showcasing their skills, teamwork, and passion for the sport.
Each team played against every other house in the opening stages, demonstrating great determination and sportsmanship. The round-robin phase was fiercely contested, with every goal, tackle, and save proving crucial in the race for the semi-finals. After a series of nail-biting encounters, the top four teams progressed to the next stage, setting up two highly competitive semi-final clashes between Purple vs Green and Red vs Blue.
In the semi-finals, the intensity only grew as players gave their all to secure a place in the grand final. The Purple team emerged victorious in their semi-final, while the Red vs Blue match ended in a dramatic penalty shootout, with the Red team triumphing to earn their place in the championship match.
The final was a showcase of skill, passion, and unwavering determination. Both teams played with immense heart, displaying excellent sportsmanship and respect for one another. In the end, it was the Red team that triumphed, lifting the trophy and celebrating their well-deserved victory.
Throughout the tournament, the pupils lived out of curriculum vision statement for PE:

Be Determined.
Players showed their passion for the game, never giving up even in challenging moments. They respected their teammates, opponents, and referees, ensuring that the competition was played in the right spirit. Their determination was evident in every match, as they pushed themselves to perform at their best.

The tournament was a resounding success, highlighting not only the footballing talent within the school but also the values that make sport such a powerful and unifying experience. Congratulations to all the players for their efforts and to the Purple team for their fantastic achievement!
