Polar Bear Fun!
We are excited to share the learning that has been happening in our nursery class as part of our "Bear" topic!
This week, we've been focusing on polar bears, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring these fascinating creatures in a variety of ways.
We started our learning journey by learning about the polar bear’s thick, furry coat and how it helps them blend in with the snow to stay safe. The children were amazed to discover how the fur keeps the polar bears warm and camouflaged! Inspired by this, the children created their very own collage polar bears, using a variety of materials to make them look like the real ones in the wild.
In our exploration of polar bears’ habitats, we examined maps to see where these bears live in the world. This led to discussions about the animals that share the same environment.
Our carpet sessions have also been full of polar bears! We have read some great polar bear stories and have learnt a polar bear counting song.
We even created our own small-world polar bear play area! The children made ice and played with their polar bears in the icy landscape, learning about the polar environment through play.
Throughout our polar bear exploration, we have lived out our Early Years vision of:
Be an Explorer. Be a Trier. Be a Talker. Be a Creator.
Icy polar bear play.
Creating polar bear camouflage.
