St George’s Year 5/6 Shine in Lewisham School Games Tag Rugby Competition

On Tuesday, 1st April, St George’s Year 5/6 pupils took to the field for their first-ever appearance in the Lewisham School Games Tag Rugby competition, held at Whitefoot Lane Playing Fields. Competing against schools from across the borough, the team showcased incredible skill, determination, and sportsmanship, finishing an impressive third in their group.

Despite having only played a handful of times before the event, St George’s pupils embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. Their rapid improvement throughout the competition was a testament to their dedication and willingness to learn. Each match was a thrilling display of teamwork, speed, and strategic play, proving that passion and perseverance can lead to remarkable achievements.

The team’s performance perfectly embodied the core P.E. values of the competition:

Be Passionate.

Be Respectful.

Be Determined.

They played each game with heart and enthusiasm, respecting their opponents and referees while staying committed to giving their best in every match.
