Angelic Advent
Year 3 getting their ‘Claus’ into the meaning of advent.
Our Vision Statement for Religious Education is:
Be Curious. Be Informed. Be Reflective
In Religious Education this term, Year Three have been studying Advent and the meaning of the four candles peace, joy, love and hope. They have looked at the real meaning of Christmas and looked in detail at Advent which means arrival. Christians celebrate the arrival of Christ by lighting four candles one for each Sunday before the 25th of December.
The children showed great curiosity finding out the origin of Advent and reflecting upon its meaning.
Previously, the children have learnt about Christian values and how they support famous Christians.
This half term, the children have learnt about Advent as a time of preparation and looked at the signs in the Bible that point to the birth of Jesus. They also looked at the impact of the message of Christmas on the people of God and then the clues to be found in the celebration of Epiphany about Jesus’ life, ensuring they were informed.
The children have completed wonderful prayers about hope and the values of Advent.
Their prayers encapsulate their feelings of hope and reflect upon the message of Advent and what it means to them. Below is some of the fantastic work they have done.
After Christmas, the children will have their final lesson of the subject of Epiphany. The following topic is Judaism.
