Our vision for maths is:

Be fluent.

Be systematic.

Be a problem solver.

In year 1, we have been working on counting forwards and backwards between 0 and 10, noticing ‘staircase’ patterns as numbers get greater for counting forwards, and smaller for counting backwards. 

We have also been working on our numeral formation to help us solve missing number problems and make our own number tracks, including getting creative with counting and numbers in our continuous provision!

Now we are fluent counting forwards and backwards, we can find one more and one less than numbers within 10.  We used counters and tens frames as well as number tracks to help us.
