Creative Cultural Writing
In Year 4, we have been writing stories based on another culture.
This week, Tull class have enjoyed writing their stories based on another culture. We focused on Ancient Egypt, which fits in perfectly as this is our next topic in history. To help us, we read a exciting story - Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx.
Through reading the story, we learnt some new vocabulary about Ancient Egypt, such as Sphinx, Pyramids and the different Gods.
After reading the story, children then wrote their versions of the story with the focus on vocabulary and fronted adverbials. There was a clear joy for this writing and some incredible setting descriptions. This fits well with our writing values of:
Be a reader.
Be a writer.
Be a communicator.
Have a look at some of the stories:
We look forward to learning more about Ancient Egypt in our history topic and make cross curricular links with the writing.
