Kente Art
In Year 4, we designed and painted our own Kente art patterns.
To complete our printing topic, children designed their own Kente patterns and then painted them. Before their final one, children designed 4 and picked their favourite one enlarge. To design the traditional Kente patterns, children thought about different geometric shapes they could use and the colours for painting. They used inspiration from Gilbert Ahiagble and his work.
This fits in with our art values:
Be creative.
Be proficient.
Be reflective.
Once children had drawn and painted their designs, they then went over the outline with a black marker to make the shapes and colours stand out. Have a look at a few more close up.
We look forward to our next topic of 3D art.
