Sweet Silence for Lent!
Today, Year 3 completed their Lenten Fundraising Challenge, decorating beautifully detailed mandalas in reflective silence.
In response to the Bishop of Southwark's Lent Call, Year 3 chose to create and decorate mandalas in silent reflection. Mandalas represent life and the universe in Hindu and Buddhist cultures, and we really enjoyed expressing our emotions in colours and patterns, whilst thinking about how to alleviate suffering at home and abroad. We have already raised £22 and are hoping for further contributions by Thursday 21st.
We showed resilience, self awareness and that we can live out our curriculum vision statement for Art at St George's:
Be Creative.
Be Reflective.
Be Informed.
And as a special reward for handling the Silence Challenge so maturely, AND to celebrate the end of a successful assessment week, we had a little early Easter treat!
