Electrifying electrons!

Best Class have investigated electricity and problems within circuits this week!

In the last three weeks in Best Class, we have been investigating electricity. We started by looking at what makes up an atom. Finding that they are made from neutrons, protons and electrons, we also discovered that it was the electrons that move around the circuit and can pass a charge.

We then went on to investigate simple series circuits and learn the symbols for drawing these circuits. You may see some of these in our scientific diagrams.

Finally this week, we investigated changing the number of components in a circuit and the effects on the potential difference. We found that we had to ensure there was enough potential difference in our batteries to ensure that the component, such as a bulb, buzzer or motor, could fully function. We also tested problems within circuits and looked to identify the issues when one was not working.

We did this through our Science Vision:

Be academic.

Be curious.

Be practical.
