PGL 2024!

Best Class went on the residential trip to PGL Windmill Hill.

At St George's, our vision statement is:

Be Brave. Be Great. Be You.

Our Year Six Residential is always a great time for our pupils to live out our calls to action.

This week, Best Class visited Windmill Hill PGL activity centre. We spent Monday to Wednesday enjoying a range of activities and pushing ourselves to be brave and courageous.

We arrived at PGL on Monday lunchtime to be greeted by our team leader, Fergus. He showed us all the sites and where our cabins were. We then did our first two activities. Half of us went on the zip wire while the other half learnt fencing (the sword version!)

We then took out cases to the cabins and made our beds. We had to make sure the cabin was tidy for room inspection by Mr Bayne! After that, we went to have our first meal, which we all enjoyed. That evening, we had a campfire. We all sat around and sang songs together, and we toasted some marshmallows on the fire.

The next day, we woke up bright and early at 7am and went to get a hearty breakfast. We then had abseiling and rifle shooting, testing bravery and accuracy. After lunch, we had raft building, learning knots and team work to stay afloat. We also did archery where the next Robin Hoods honed their craft. That evening after dinner, we had a tournament of a range of team-based games.

On our final morning after breakfast, we had a go at aeroball, which is basketball on a trampoline, tiring us all out. Finally, we had the trapeze. We had to climb a very high tower and then jump out to catch the trapeze. Courage was needed and all showed it to the best of their ability.
