Let's create texture

In year 3, we have been looking at Vincent van Gogh. We have been creating textures using a range of different techniques.

Our curriculum vision statement for Art and Design is:

Be creative.

Be proficient.

Be reflective.

Just like our focus artist, we have been practising to become more proficient at creating different marks, including cross-hatching, dashes and swirls.

We have been creating techniques using impasto, where we add flour and paint together to create textures, and also add glue and paint together, which makes our painting smooth.

We also completed tonking by blotting tissue onto the paper by creating different marks. Lastly, we made sgraffito marks using the end of our paintbrush to create different marks.

We can't wait to apply our newly proficient skills when creating our own paintings!
