What a challenging afternoon!

A group from our Year 6s attended St Dunstan's to take part in a maths challenge.

On Tuesday 19th November 2024, a group of year 6 children attended St Dunstand College to take part in their annual maths challenge. This fits in perfectly with our maths curriculum vision statement:

Be fluent.

Be systematic.

Be a problem-solver.

To begin with, children worked in small groups to solve challenges set by one of the tutors. All challenges required the children to work in a systematic approach, which guided them to the solutions to some very difficult problems.

The second part of the session really tested their mathematics. They had to work as a larger group, but in stages. The first pair were tasked at solving the first part of the problem, then it was passed onto the next pair to continue the challenge and to further solve the challenge. This provided some fantastic mathematical talk and team work.

We would like to thank St Dunstan's for this fantastic opportunity and we look forward to many more challenges in the future.
