Winter Wonder Land
This week in our Nursery class, we've had an exciting time as we explore the wonders of winter!
Following our Early Years Curriculum Vision:
Be an Explorer, Be a Trier, Be a Talker, Be a Creator
the children have been engaging in a variety of activities that inspire curiosity, creativity, and communication.
Our little explorers have been learning about the changing seasons and observing the winter weather. The children have enjoyed monitoring the frost and ice outside, discovering how the cold temperatures transform the world around us. We’ve had many conversations about what we see, hear, and feel, becoming true talkers as we share our thoughts and ideas with each other. Books about the weather and the seasons have been very popular reads in our book corner.
In our creative sessions, we've looked at the beautiful winter paintings of the famous artist Claude Monet. The children were inspired by his use of soft, blended colours and the tranquil winter scenes he captured. After discussing his artwork, our young creators had the opportunity to try colour mixing to create their own winter landscapes, experimenting with the different colours on their painting palettes.
We’ve also been busy making winter world collages! Using a variety of materials, the children carefully designed their own magical winter scenes, with frost, ice and - the much hope for -snow!. Each collage reflects the creativity and imagination of our little artists.
It’s been a wonderful week of discovery, and we can’t wait to see what more our explorers will learn as we continue our journey through the winter season.
