Pets and Vets!

This week in Kahlo Class, we’ve been busy learning about pets as part of our exciting topic on Animals.

It has been wonderful to see our young explorers, triers, talkers, and creators bringing our curriculum vision to life in so many ways!

Our role-play area was transformed into a bustling veterinary clinic, where pupils took on the roles of vets, nurses, and pet owners. They explored what it means to care for animals, showing kindness and creativity as they examined toy pets and bandaged their "injuries."

Using plasticine, the children became creators, sculpting their very own pets. From slithery snakes to fluffy cats the class showed amazing imagination! Once their creations were complete, they wrote simple sentences about their pets, describing their names, colors, and special features.

We also loved reading Mog and the Vet by Judith Kerr. The story sparked lots of discussion about how vets help animals and gave pupils the chance to become confident talkers, sharing their ideas. The children then wrote their own simple sentences about Mog the cat, practising their growing writing skills.

It has been a fantastic week filled with creativity, exploration, and so much learning. We’re so proud of how the children are embodying our Early Years vision:

Be an Explorer. Be a Trier. Be a Talker. Be a Creator.

We can’t wait to see what next week brings in Kahlo Class!
