#LetGirlsPlay!

Our Year 5 girls playing in the annual #LetGirlsPlay festival at St Dunstan's Jubilee Ground.
On Friday, 7th March, ten talented Year 5 girls from St George’s Primary School proudly represented their school at the Lewisham Games #LetGirlsPlay 5/6 Football Festival. The festival took place at St Dunstan’s Jubilee Ground and was a celebration of girls’ football, encouraging participation, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
From the first whistle, the St George’s team embodied the school’s core P.E curriculum calls to action:
Be Passionate,
Be Determined,
Be Respectful.
Their enthusiasm for the game was evident in every match they played, as they tackled challenges head-on, supported one another, and demonstrated incredible teamwork.
Throughout the festival, the girls showcased their growing skills and confidence on the pitch. Their determination was clear as they fought for every ball, made impressive passes, and took powerful shots on goal. Regardless of the match outcomes, their sportsmanship and respect towards opponents, referees, and teammates shone through.
The festival, which was part of the national #LetGirlsPlay initiative, aimed to promote girls' participation in football and inspire the next generation of female players. The St George’s team certainly rose to the occasion, showing that they are a force to be reckoned with.
A huge congratulations to all the players for their outstanding effort and for making the school proud. Their passion, determination, and respect on the field truly embodied the spirit of St George’s. Well done, girls!
We look forward to our next competition, which will be year 5/6 Tag Rugby.
