Dear St. George's families,
It has been a fun-packed final week and a half, full of community events. We have certainly lived out our culture statement: We are fun. We are together. Check out the news stories below to see how we have enjoyed the festive season, whilst still ensuring there has been plenty of learning.
A big thank you to those of you who supported your child in completing an optional curriculum enrichment task for home learning this term. A sample of some of the best tasks can be seen in our news story about our home learning exhibition below. We look forward to even more families completing tasks for our Spring home learning exhibition.
At St George's, we enjoy enriching our curriculum by participating in national events. On Monday, it was great seeing our pupils out and about, participating in orienteering, as part of Geography Awareness Week, which took place earlier in the term. Although we did this a little late, as ever, we did it well at St George's!
Next term, we have Safer Internet Week to look forward to. We will also be participating in British Science Week. This year, Mr Bayne will even be adding our very own Science Fair, so keep your eyes peeled on how your child can participate, and possibly win a Science-related prize!
Please make a note of two parent events, the dates of which can be found below. Firstly, in the third week back, we are holding our 1:1 parents' evenings. You will need to book a ten-minute slot, during which you will receive your child's latest written report with their latest assessment results. You will also have the opportunity to find out how they are doing in class and look through their exercise books. It is really important you attend so that we can work together to ensure your child can fulfil their potential.
Secondly, we will be holding our first Parent Association meeting in the final week of term. A Schoolping will go out with more information in the new year that will give you the opportunity to let us know if you are able to attend. It is a great opportunity for you to support the school, particularly in raising funds and helping with community events. Please look out for that and try to attend. Not all roles are big ones and every little bit will help if you are able to give a little time or have some expertise you can share.
Finally, we wish you the very best of Christmas breaks, full of rest and fun, ready for learning in 2024.
Mr Janes
